The Twitter account of Ghanaian rapper Samuel Frimpong, often known as Medikal in the country's music industry, has been suspended.
The "sika mpe dede" singer was just suspended for impersonating Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the president of Ghana.
How It Occurred
AMG Medikal recently changed his Twitter identity to "Mr. President" and used a picture of the president of Ghana as his profile picture.
Fans who interpreted this to signify something suggested that the rapper may have changed it on purpose in light of his most recent song, "Sika Mpe Dede," which was written utilizing the president's words.
Then, after a Sarknative (a supporter of the singer Sarkodie) reported Medikal's account, the rapper's Twitter account was suspended. Remember that Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, already warned users of the social media platform that they face suspension if they impersonate others without adding parody.
Any Twitter accounts that use impersonation in the future without explicitly stating that it is "parody" will be permanently suspended.
"In the past, we have given notice before suspending service; but, since we are doing widespread verification, there will be no notice." This will be made clear as a requirement for joining Twitter Blue.
Elon Musk stated in a recent tweet that "Any name change at all will entail temporary removal of the verified checkmark."
